It’s all systems ‘go’ for Lakeway

Anyone living near or passing by the Lakeway residential development located on Narla Road Swanbourne, can’t help but notice the remarkable transformation that is taking place on the old Drive In site. Gone are the hectares of asphalt, replaced by heavy earthmoving equipment and scores of workers who are busily reshaping what was until recently a forlorn and dilapidated site into 39 premium homesites.

Already the estate’s network of streets and lanes is evident, with gravel and asphalt sheeting in place and most ready for sealing. The various coloured road surface materials will not only be visually appealing, but also help to define slow points, pedestrian crossovers and other road system features.

Hundreds of metres of natural limestone retaining walls that will form the building lot boundaries are being installed, and underground power, water, drainage and other essential utility services are well on their way to being completed.

By the time you read this, the landscapers should have moved onto the site. The protection of the natural environment was a high priority in the design of Lakeway, so a large proportion of existing mature trees and bushland have all been retained to become the basis of the landscaping plan.

The Residential Design Guidelines approved by Council will ensure the homes to be built at Lakeway will be amongst the most environmentally sustainable and energy efficient residences in Australia. Most of the lots face north, to encourage the building of solar passive homes that take advantage of natural energy flows to maintain thermal comfort. The Residential Design Guidelines also outline the types of building materials and colours to be used, heights and setbacks, window placements, the inclusion of greywater reuse systems and many other environmentally sustainable features.

With the first lots at Lakeway planned for auction around the middle of the year, those interested in purchasing a homesite can register their interest now by clicking here.
